HOLY CROSS ANGLICAN PRIMARY SCHOOL
SAN PEDRO, BELIZE

In this community where education is a dream, healthcare is not accessible and a simple thing such as a glass of drinking water is not an everyday commodity, Holy Cross Primary School opened its doors.

It is located in the impoverished community of San Mateo in San Pedro, Belize, Central America. On this small island, health care, community services and education are unattainable as over 200 young children and their families are turned away from Holy Cross Primary School each year.

This is due to lack of funding, space and donations. Without definite financial supports, the challenge of having to continue service was very evident. We were awestruck by the vastness of services this over-flowing, under-funded school provided to their community. The school provides free education, health services, dental services and a food and nutrition program to over 500 children from San Mateo, without government financial contributions.

After we had the opportunity to visit, and meet the children from the underprivileged area of San Mateo we became actively involved with Holy Cross Primary School. Our first donation to Holy Cross was a small donation of toys we purchased ourselves. Upon return home we continued our mission and we received donations from Dreammakers, and the Toronto Transit Commission. Since starting DirectAbundance, we have received donations from schools in three different school boards and have over 200 supporters who single handedly help raise awareness, funds, and donations for Holy Cross.

We are presently organizing student volunteers groups from Colleges and Universities to go and assist in the development of the school and community. The work is not over. Within the year we are hoping to expand our contributions to another very essential school on the island that has over 900 students but no food program, no medical service, no dental service, and they too are turning away children desperate to go to school.

This school is funded solely on donations. We are currently assisting in supporting the health of the children and families of San Mateo. We would like you to donate to this worthy cause. These donations will be used for the sole purpose and benefit of the disadvantaged children of San Pedro.
