2009 Recipient of High School Scholarship

In Belize, high school education is not free. The family is required to cover all expenses to attend. The cost is too great for most families. The tuition alone is about $500 US. When you add onto that, the price of uniforms, books and school supplies, attending high school becomes a tremendous challenge. Most families only make about $20 US a day.

In High School and Looking for Community Service Hours?

DirectAbundance needs your help to support students who want to attend High School. We have set up a scholarship program for the children in San Mateo. All you have to do is sell chocolate bars or create other fund-raising events alone or with your friends or through your school and the money raised will help cover the cost of tuition. In return, the receiver of the scholarship will write you a minimum of 3 letters over the course of the year, letting you know how they are doing. Also you have a wonderful reference to add to your resume of volunteer work.
